ALIGNING THE MAGNET ON THE 1200 PLATTER
There is a correct alignment for the Platter Magnet. If it is not right, the speed stability can worsen as much as 50%. In other words, the flutter measurement.
The magnet can only be attached one way with 3 screws. but the magnet can be rotated a few degrees side to side. That small motion is enough to make a big difference in speed stability.
In the photo below the red arrow identifies the edge of one of the
position sensor stators. The stator should cut through the open hole in the
magnet.
